Arya, Peach, & Daisy

Species: African Pigmy Hedgehog
Age: 2 years, Unknown, Unknown
About Our Hedgehogs:
Arya was a pet originally sold in North Carolina. Her owner moved to Georgia shortly and was not aware that hedgehogs are illegal in this state. When trying to rehome Arya, she became aware of the legalities and chose to surrender her to a licensed sanctuary rather than put her at risk of being seized.
Arya is a very sweet hedgehog. She loves to cuddle, sleep in pockets, and run laps around the room. One of her favorite pastimes is running on her wheel.
Several months after Arya came to live with us, we got a little surprise. During one of our routine DNR inspections, the officer brough us two more little hedgehogs that had been seized that morning for being owned illegally. We don't know anything more about where these two came from, but we've named them Daisy & Peach and we know they're happy to be with us!
African pigmy hedgehogs are relatively common pets in America. Their popularities is heavily due to their mild temperaments and adorable little faces. However, as attractive as they are it's important to know your state's laws. There are many states in America where hedgehogs are illegal to own, and disregarding these laws can put your pet in danger.
