Kajou

Basic Info:

Name: Kajou

Species: Kinkjaou

Gender: Male

Age: 5 years

About Kajou:

Kajou was originally an exotic pet. He was relinquished to us after his owner gave birth to a child and no longer felt that she could care for him. Kajou's owners had good intentions, but did not know how to properly meet his needs. He became aggressive, moody, and skittish.

Now that Kajou has gotten a fresh start, he's sweet as can be! He loves to climb all over his caretakers, sit on shoulders, and cuddle. He also loves solving puzzles for snacks, and exploring our Education Center.

About Kinkajous:

Kinkajous may easily be mistaken for primates because of their prehensile tail, but they are actually in the raccoon family. Kinkajous live in the rainforest canopies of Central and South America. Right now Kinkajous aren't a threatened species, but like all arboreal rainforest animals this could change within our lifetimes. It's important to realize that the actions we make as individuals have a heavy effect on the rainforest and our planet.
